What Your Actions Truley Say About You…

Leading in the worng state of mind.

When we were assigned the topic of antiheroes I got a little worried. I could think of many people who I personally considered an antihero but when it came to explaining why they were an antihero, I couldn’t quite explain it. I mean many people make mistakes, but does that make them an antihero? I don’t think so, it can consider them a “bad” person. However I don’t think its enough to consider them an antihero.

But what if they do more then make a minor mistake? Does that then make them an antihero? I believe it can, depending on the intensity of the situation. Which leads me to my main focus.

Bill Clinton.

To many hes an idle, many have no opinion on him. But to me hes a disgrace. I feel that as a president he was very successful, he did a very good job in office and kept America in good spirit and on a good track. However as the president of the United States, its an obvious fact that your personal life, can and does effect the position of office. And i feel that what Bill Clinton did, not only to his wife, but to the world, was uncalled for in more ways then i can express.

Cheating is a sin, Lying is also a sin, combining them together, now that’s just a predicament that no one wants involved with. Monica Lewinsky was her name. Bill not only had an affair on his wife, but he lied about it to the entire world.

The affair itself made a huge impact on pretty much the entire world. I remember when it happened, at first he claimed he did not have sexual relations with her.by saying “But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I’m going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time — never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people.” Then during his speech on August 17, 1998, Clinton admitted to the relationship. His exact quote being, “Indeed, I did have a relationship with Miss Lewinsky that was not appropriate. In fact, it was wrong. It constituted a critical lapse in judgment and a personal failure on my part for which I am solely and completely responsible. ”

Immediately after admitting to the affair, Clinton went on saying he at no point had anyone lie or hide things for him. This minor action is what i would consider the “hero” part of him. He messed up, and knew he did. Whether he felt bad about it or not is unknown, but he took the responsibility for his own reactions. Though during his speech he made a comment about regretting his actions by saying, “I know that my public comments and my silence about this matter gave a false impression. I misled people, including even my wife. I deeply regret that.”

What president Clinton did was wrong, though he may not have thought so. Though his actions did not tear apart his marriage, it did however cause his job as president to become more difficult.

Clinton was tried for impeachment in 1999. He was tried for many reasons other then lying to the nation about his affair. One of which being the “Travelgate” scandal where seven long-time employees were fired and replaced by friends of the Clintons’. In an article posted by The History Place, it was stated that Clinton has 11 impeachable offenses against him during his time of office. Due to the voting process, Clinton was able to finish out his term as president.

The actions of Clinton, in my eyes make him not only a bad and untrustworthy person, but an antihero.

5 Steps to Obtaining Self-Confidence

People who lack self confidence, usually lack the ability to see the good in themselves. A lack of self confidence can not only put a burden on yourself but on the others around you as well.

Self confidence is an easy thing to obtain, but not always is it as easy to keep a hold of.

The first step to self confidence is to examine. You must find out why you lack self confidence in order to gain it back.

The next step is to gain new skills. Once you have realized why you lack self confidence, you may need to obtain new skills to improve your abilities.

The third step is to practice. According to a blog on the web masters success, practice makes perfect. Once you have learned the new skills, you must practice them until you have them down.

The following rule, and probably the easiest is to smile. Having a smile displays that you are confident. Smiling says a lot about a person, it shows you have confidence and that you’re not afraid to show it.

The final step is to give. The best thing you can do with confidence is to share it. Maybe you have a friend that lacks in confidence. The easiest thing to do is give somebody a compliment, no matter how small it’ll make them feel better. And in the process you’re boosting your own confidence by helping out the thoughts of others.

Partner Work

Day One:

We started our group assignments today, and though i wasn’t too thrilled about my partner it turned out pretty well. I’m not the greatest at creating story ideas, so Jake did most of that. He came up with three ideas, a story on short people, which i wasn’t too fond of, one about teachers first years and what crazy things happen. This idea is the one we chose to write about, and the third story idea was so blah i don’t even remember it. But the good thing is, we found an idea, and we have a list of teachers started. Now we just have to come up with detailed questions and contact the teacher.

Day Two:

Today we filled out a paper on who we plan on interviewing, what we want to ask them, and any extra information we want to use for the story. As far as the group part went, their was a lot of cooperation today on both ends. We evenly divided the work, and decided to write and edit the entire story together but at separate times. As of right now, i think the final product is going to be successful.

Day Three:

Question day! We had to come up with our questions to ask our interviewees. However instead of working as a partnership, we made up questions completely on our own. Even though we came up with the same questions yesterday, but if it works it works. So i guess working by yourself and collaborating at the end gets the job done sufficiently.

Day Six:

I was out for two days (day four and five) with the stomach flu, but our story is on a good start. Jake got most of the interviews done while i was gone, and I’m gonna finish up the rest of the interviews tomorrow during homeroom. And he started the story which only has one teachers interview in it and is already over 200 words. So I think once we finish all the interviews and put everything together, I believe our story will be well over the expected amount, and of very good quality.

Day Seven:

We got two more interviews today, however the teacher were looking forward to talking with is still busy. So were gonna try and catch him before class begins tomorrow. Besides that our story if over 700 words and well on its way. We also found some statistics today that were going to fit into the story. It is due tomorrow so besides pictures i think it’ll be quite easy to get the last interviews and finish it up quickly.

Day Eight:

The story is over the required amount, and were still not finished. I feel bad because I was out for two days and my partner pretty much did everything. I’m getting our final interview today, adding it into our story and then gonna do the editing. Again, I wish I would have been here at the beginning of the week to actually help with the main work. But you can’t help when your body wants to get sick. I’m just hoping our story turns out as successful as we’re thinking it is going to be.

Day Eight Continued:

I stayed after class that day, got our final interview and finished the rest of the story. Our story was well over the expected amount. The story concluded at 1250 words. Overall I think the assignment went very well. Working with a partner was actually helpful, it helped me with my own faults. For instant actually having a time schedule and having specific things to accomplish. And it made me more patient with others. I’m very pleased with our final product.
